Wojcik delivers results

I have worked with Michael Wojcik on several community endeavors — from neighborhood to individual property issues. I realized how effective he is when Folwell School was desperately in need of a traffic calming solution.

As school attendance and traffic grew, streets surrounding the Folwell were becoming dangerous for kids getting to school. The principal at the time said that after speaking with city departments, there wasn’t much that could be done to solve the problem. Then one morning I saw a child come within six inches of getting hit by a car. That’s when I contacted my City Council rep, Michael Wojcik.

Michael, already aware of this issue after being contacted by others, had been exploring traffic calming solutions and had a plan to propose. He knew what options were and were not possible. He asked the PTSA to provide a leadership committee to review options and attend a neighborhood meeting to discuss plans with residents.

By the beginning of the next school year, traffic was re-routed to create safe crossings for kids.

There were times when people disagreed. Council Member Wojcik led us through a complicated process to find a solution. I am certain this problem was only solved because of his deep knowledge of City and State departments and his willingness to fight against the status quo to improve daily life. I urge you to re-elect Michael Wojcik so we can continue to benefit from his experience and proven record of getting real work done.
