Olmsted County surpasses 100 Covid deaths

Olmsted County has topped 100 Covid-related deaths.

The total — 102, as of Tuesday — was updated this week to reflect deaths that occurred months earlier, but had not yet been reported to the county.

Since that time, new cases and hospitalizations have dropped significantly. The county is now averaging eight new cases per day and 5.3 daily hospitalizations — both are the lowest figures in months.

On the vaccination front, 95,418 residents — or 61.6 percent of the population — have started their vaccine series (73.9 percent of eligible residents 12+), including 5,750 youth ages 12-17.
