Rochester entrepreneurs named to Forbes '30 Under 30 in Healthcare' list

Two young Rochester entrepreneurs received national recognition Tuesday, as Forbes magazine honored the Nanodropper team of founders with a spot on their annual ‘30 Under 30’ list recognizing high achievers in health care.

Tuesday’s news was the latest in a line of success stories for the startup, which produces a patented eye drop bottle adapter that reduces the size of prescription eye drops by 70 percent — preserving the medicine’s effectiveness, but drastically improving the lifespan of a single bottle.

After two years of development, the Nanodropper product was officially released in June — and just two months later, Nanodropper received a contract from the U.S. Air Force worth roughly $500,000.

While the Nanodropper team met and developed their idea at the University of Washington, two of its leaders — CEO Allisa Song (center right in the photo) and COO Elias Baker (right) — are based in Rochester, as the former pursues a degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. (The other two team members are still based out of Seattle.)

“Seeing this year’s list of honorees makes me hopeful for the future of healthcare, being led by trailblazers that are innovating toward a patient-centered and equitable system,” said Song. “I look forward to continuing to prove that we belong as we fulfill our mission of helping patients take back control of their eye health.”
