'Chocolate Twist' Kickstarter reaches $25K goal

The Chocolate Twist ice cream shop has secured an early investment thanks to a community crowdfunding effort.

A Kickstarter campaign for the business, which will be run by the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester, reached its $25,000 fundraising goal over the weekend. As of this writing, 101 supporters had made a contribution to the campaign.

For the past few weeks, crews have been working to set up The Chocolate Twist in a vacant portion of the former Paine Furniture building in downtown Rochester.

"All our equipment has been purchased and construction is moving along smoothly," the Club wrote in a Kickstarter update.

Once open, The Chocolate Twist will serve up gourmet ice cream and candy. All profits will support program funding and workforce development for the local Boys & Girls Club.

We first reported on the concept back in July.
