Anonymous donor drops off $1,000 in gift cards to Olmsted Co. Sheriff's Office
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office is applauding the efforts of a woman whose generosity will gift a lift to some local kids this holiday season.
This week an elderly woman stopped by the sheriff's office with 20 Walmart gift cards valued at $50 each. She offered only two requests: That deputies hand out the cards to kids in need and that she remain anonymous.
On Facebook, Sheriff Kevin Torgerson said he was out of the office at the time. His staff offered to take her name down, but "nope she wouldn't do it." She left the building refusing to reveal her identity to anyone.
"... the cards are going out today to our Patrol staff who will be looking for the right situations and kids in particular who could use a little good in their lives during the holiday season," said Torgerson.
On behalf of his department, Torgerson offered a heartfelt thank you to the anonymous donor:
To the kind women, I'm sorry I couldn't be there and I wish I could thank you in person. Your kindness and generosity at this time of year thinking of folks especially the children who may find this time of year a difficult time is remarkable. So thank you, thank you, thank you and God Bless Us, Everyone!!
