Watch: Meteorologist helps van out of snow during live shot in Rochester

Mike Bettes put forward his best Minnesota Nice on Thursday morning by helping push out a minivan stuck in snow.

The Weather Channel meteorologist was reporting on the storm (which, by the way, dumped a foot of snow on Rochester) from outside St. Marys hospital when he noticed the vehicle behind him. With his camera operator following, Bettes ran down and assisted the driver along with two other men.

The scene played out live to a national audience:

Bettes also reported live from downtown Rochester throughout the evening on Wednesday. Mayor Ardell Brede and MnDOT regional spokesperson Mike Dougherty were among the locals who got a little face time on national TV.
