Season begins for Wednesday farmers markets at the Apache Mall

Rochester shoppers no longer have to wait until Saturday to pick up their fresh, locally-sourced meats and produce.

The Wednesday farmers market begins this week and runs through September 28 at the south end of the Apache Mall, near the 16th Street entrance. The market's hours are from 2-6 p.m.

The market features between 8-10 vendors selling, among other things: Beef, pork, produce, jellies and breads. According to organizers, the smaller scale and ease of parking for the events makes it a convenient option, especially for seniors and people with limited mobility.

The original farmers market, with about 100 vendors, is held on Saturday mornings from 7:30-noon in downtown Rochester.

Can't make it to the markets? Here's a guide to some businesses in our area that support local agriculture.
