New apartment complex will offer private pet park, children's play area

A new $20 million luxury apartment complex set to open in southeast Rochester will feature one of the city's first private pet parks.

Preserve on Maine will offer 17 floor plan options  from studio to three bedrooms — in a "resort style" atmosphere. The units are being targeted toward millennials and boomers looking for a "community oriented environment."

Residents will have access to a 24/7 fitness center along with classes for yoga, aerobics, cardio and strength training. The community also features a pool, outdoor lounge, clubroom and an outdoor play area for children.

Additionally, the complex is located along walking and biking trails  and is only a five minute walk to shopping and restaurants at Shoppes on Maine.

The apartments will be available for rent beginning November 1.

Correction: A previous version of this story mistakenly stated this would be Rochester's first private pet park. However, as Facebook commenters pointed out, at least two other complexes have private, fenced-in areas for pets.
