Community matches foundation's $1 million contribution in four days

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Nonprofits across southeast Minnesota are $2 million richer following a recent match campaign by the Otto Bremer Foundation.

It took the community just four days to match the foundation's $1 million contribution. Organizers had originally planned for a "high-energy, month-long" campaign.

About 100 nonprofits in the eight-county region participated in the campaign. Many created promotional media (below) and offered extra incentives to excite potential donors.

The Otto Bremer Foundation owns a majority stake in Bremer Bank, which recently moved into the Rochester area with the purchase of Eastwood Bank.

The drive is no completely over. According to the foundation, each day this month a donor will selected for a "Bremer Boost,"  which increases a contribution by $1,000.

A $10,000 gift will also be awarded on the last day of the challenge, March 31, as a way to encourage donors and organizations to continue giving throughout the month.
