Honkers baseball club hires new radio announcer for the 2015 season

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Fans of the Rochester Honkers will hear a new voice calling the plays on the radio this summer.

The club announced Tuesday that Clinton Cole from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Chicago, Illinois will be the team’s play-by-play announcer for the 2015 season. Cole currently hosts his own show on Chicagoland Sports Radio covering Purdue football and basketball.

"I'm extremely excited to join the Rochester Honkers organization, and to call Northwoods League Baseball,” said Cole, according to a new release from the team. “Baseball and broadcasting are my true passions and to be able to do that with the best club in the Northwoods League is really special.”

Cole takes over the mic from Erik Ryan Solberg, who was unable to return in 2015 due to his soccer coaching requirements at East Central University, the team said.

The Honkers' 22nd season begins at home on May 26. All 72 of the team's home and away games will be broadcast live on Sports Radio AM 1520 The Ticket.
