Organizers announce date and location of Rochester's first TEDx event

Organizers announce date and location of Rochester's first TEDx event

Organizers of Rochester's first-ever TEDx conference announced on Wednesday that the event will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Autumn Ridge Church.

TEDxZumbroRiver was first announced back in August. The one-day event will feature about 20 live speakers, each with a unique and innovative idea.

Autumn Ridge, a non-denominational church in southwest Rochester, has a large auditorium with a maximum capacity of nearly 1,200 people.

“We wanted an intimate space that could comfortably hold a large number of people," said Ben Creo, one of the event's lead organizers. "Autumn Ridge fits that criteria.”

Tickets will be under $100 per person (no specific price yet). Organizers are accepting applications for speakers through Sunday, Oct. 18.

TEDx events have been held in more than 1,200 cities across the world, including Minneapolis and Fargo. The difference between a TED conference and a TEDx conference is the "x," which indicates the event is independently organized.
