Watch: 5 of the brightest minds in Rochester share their big ideas

Some of the brightest minds in health care gathered for the annual Mayo Clinic Transform Conference earlier this month in Rochester. For those unable to attend, we've included five presentations by local experts that stood out from the event. All videos are from the Mayo Clinic's Center for Innovation.

1. Dr. Daniel Cabrera, New Paradigms in Medical Education

"We need to start moving from old media to new media. Knowledge is not in shelves in dusty libraries anymore. Knowledge is in the network."

Read more about Dr. Cabrera.

2. Tori Utley, Addiction Stigma as a Barrier to Recovery

"Addiction does not discriminate, so neither can we. When we make the word 'addict' synonymous with 'criminal,' we are furthering the stigma that keeps the 'us and them' mentality alive and well."

Read more about Ms. Utley.

3. Adam Ferrari, Dying Cities: Poor Design’s Impact on Our Health

"We need to go back to a system where we design streets and neighborhoods and housing for people. Our overall health depends on it."

Read more about Mr. Ferrari.

4. Yuko Taniguchi, Surviving Tsunami Waves: The Exhibition of Resilience Through Arts and Narrative

"Community engagement is like a physical activity exercise. If we want muscle, to have an ability to reach out to others and connect because we are all going to face our own Tsunami waves, then we have to practice it."

Read more about Ms. Taniguchi.

5. Travis Wilson, Leading in Health Care Through Courageous Questions

"I love questions because like signs on the road, questions are guides, giving information and placing us in interesting places."

Read more about Mr. Wilson.

Several of the above speakers are expected to participate in next month's Global Entrepreneurship Week in Rochester. Click here for more information.
